Server Training
On Tuesday, August 26 at 1 p.m. there will be a server training for students in grades 6,7 and 8 during the school day. Students that are interested should tell their teacher fy Friday, August 22nd so a list can be sent over to the Parish Center.
First Reconciliation Parent Meeting
Parents of our Second Grade students that will be making their First Reconciliation will have a meeting on September 2 or September 4 at 7 p.m. in the gathering space at church. At least one parent must attend one of these meetings in order to help prepare your child for this sacrament. A letter will be sent home soon with more details.
A Dickens of a Christmas
Students in grades 3-6 may audition for parts in our upcoming play, A Dickens of a Christmas. Auditions are on August 19th and 26th at 2:45-3:45 in the SVES Music room. The play will be presented on Sunday, December 14th at the Perry Park Center. If you have questions, contact Mrs. Jane Schnurbusch.
New Phone System
An analog phone system was installed a couple weeks ago. You might notice some changes. If the phone is not picked up in a few rings, it will give you some menu options so you can leave anyone a message. Listen to the menu and when we get off the other lines or get back to our desk we can call you back. We hope this system will be more efficient!
Date Change
Please note the dates of the two following events. The Mouse Race will be on Saturday, January 24th in order that we can have the "Mouse Man". Second of all, there was a typo on some calendars sent out earlier this summer. First Communion is on Sunday, April 19th not on the 17th. Please note these changes.
PTO Dues
Just as a reminder, PTO dues are now being collected for the 2008-2009 school year. The dues are $10 per family. The dues are used to cover program expenses such as guest speakers, supplies, mailings if needed, etc. You can send them in an envelope marked PTO dues and with your name or you can pay them at the meeting on August 26. Thank You!
Tax Deduction
One of our accountants that we use from the Archdiocese shared a good idea with me. He said that the principal, posts a "wish list". Then parisioners and parents can buy items and donate them to the school. They bring the store receipt and the principal can fill out a receipt. In this way, the donor can use this as a tax deduction because it is a donation and the school benefits from the gift. I thought this was a great idea if anyone wants to give it a try. Here are a couple ideas for our SVES "Wish List" DVD players, an adding machine and white copier paper. (We use lots of paper each year!)
